5 Lip Smacking Recipes Every Aloo Lover Should Try!

We all love potatoes despite of the fact that they have high carbohydrate content. For all the Aloo Lovers we have 5 simple and delicious recipes.

1. Potato Lollipop:

Boil and peel the potatoes and onions. Mash them well. Add crushed salt, red pepper and cumin powder in it. Now add some corn flour and mix well to form a dough. You can now shape them into a cutlet and shallow fry them in a pan. Insert lollipop sticks to the patties and serve them with ketchup or podinay ki chutney.

2. Potato Wedges:

Style of cutting wedges is slightly different than cutting fries. Wedges are thicker and you don’t pell of the skin from potatoes. So after you have cut potatoes, boil them in salt water. Grind some cumin seeds, black peppercorns, red chili and sea salt. Sprinkle the mixture to the boiled potatoes and mix. Add some refined flour and sprinkle a little water and mix.  Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the wedges, till golden and crisp. Garnish with grated cheese and coriander.

3. Loaded Hasselback Potatoes: 

Cut the potatoes vertically into thin slices. Stuff them with cheese and sprinkle it with melted butter, salt, pepper and some of your favorite herbs (cilantro or coriander) . Now bake it until it turns golden brown, check if the potatoes are cooked with a fork.

4. Chicken Chili Cheese Fries:

Brown chicken and onions in 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add tomatoes, red chili, salt, cumin and simmer to blend flavors. Fry potatoes and sweet potatoes in oil until golden brown. Drain on paper towels then keep warm in oven until chili is ready. Serve chili over fries and top with shredded cheese.

5. Aloo Kay Parathay:

Peel and mash the potatoes with a fork. Add green chilies, coriander leaves, black pepper powder, red chili and salt to the mashed potatoes and mix well. In a separate bowl, knead the plain flour with salt, and some water to make a smooth dough. Divide the dough into equal sized balls. Roll out one ball of dough with a rolling pin. Spread the potato mixture on it. Roll out a second ball of dough and cover it with the first one. Heat a flat pan and apply a little amount of oil on both the sides of the paratha and fry till crisp and brown. Serve hot with dahi.
